A better day -- and a (slightly) better person??

I spent the better part of yesterday absolutely FURIOUS at Al for forcing us to take our horses away from his place before our barn is ready.  Concentrating on how wrong he is.  How unreasonable he is.  What a mean old man he has become.  Mad, mad, mad.

But then . . . later in the day Mark and I talked for a while about the things we absolutely HAVE to do to make the place safe enough to bring the horses home - even though it won't be complete.  Such a nice conversation.  (He sent me "The Mother of All Lists" -- pages and pages of things we need to do yet, and I got to go over them and voice my own opinions about the order of things that need done.)  After we hung up, I began to ask myself if this whole thing might be the universe's way of helping us get on with our lives in a different way.   Hmmm.

And once I reached that point, my inclination was to go check out Mary's blog.  She so often has a lot to say that is uncannily relevant to my own life at the moment.  And sure enough . . .

Check out this all-too-relevant Mary Muncil blog from earlier this week.   It ends with this quote:  "The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes. ~William James"

And sure enough -- THIS human being can.  Thanks, Mary.

So when my thoughts revert back to this situation, I remind myself of all the things Al HAS done for me over the years -- letting me bring my very first horse there for a far more reasonable price than anyplace else nearby, driving up to North Louisiana to pick up Duke for us before we had a horse trailer of our own, feeding the horses in the morning when Mark is offshore so I don't have to get up before dawn, helping to get the temporary shelter we bought to stay up correctly . . .  and when I do that, it makes me feel relaxed and happy with my life once more.

So . . . back to work.
