I'm exhausted just THINKING about it . . .

and I'm not even the one who will have to DO all this work!!!   (Mark won't need any gym membership anytime soon, that's for sure!) 

Once Al evicted us from his barn as of July 25, Mark sat down and put down on paper all the things that still need done around here.  Whew!  This is definitely one of those "take one thing at a time" instances because if you think about the entire thing the effect is to send you off to bed since the big picture is absolutely exhausting!  Check out this list.

THE MOTHER OF ALL LISTS


GET READY TO BRING HORSES HOME:

1) Purchase and install three more pasture gates


2) Turn Bug’s paddock gate around and install the gates into the other paddocks (3 more) 


3) Install additional post braces at corners, then re-tighten fencing (it's loosened up since the temperatures went up so high)


4) Complete fencing around the paddocks


5) Rent a magnetic roller and clear paddocks and pastures of nails, staples, etc.


6) Reinstall water line to end of the front porch near barn (then run a hose to barn for now)


7) Clear all the building materials out of the stalls and rooms in the barn


8) Decide on wiring and plumbing plans (rough in so walls can be finished)


9) Finish bottom 8 feet of stall walls


10) Put in stall dividers


11) Install polyethylene on stall walls


12) Paint (plywood) stall walls above the polyethylene


13) Have RS bring dirt for the paddocks and low areas in front of the barn


             Spread the dirt


            Fill holes in paddocks and various places in back pasture


14) Install gutters on the barn to drain into a stock tank


15) Put up the rest of the siding after the windows are installed and the porch framed in


16) Put a window of some kind between Bug’s stall and the porch


17) Install 3 (or 4) exterior doors on tack room/porch


            Front porch door


            Door into stall hallway


            Door out of tack room to side porch


            Door from side porch into closed porch???


18) Install “something” (doors or chains or something) between center hall into stalls


19) Install exterior stall doors before we have a hurricane



THINGS TO BRING HOME FROM AL’S PLACE (besides the horses, of course):




20) the tent shelter - store for now, decide where to put it up later


21) Hay Hut - set up in back somewhere (no need for hay now)


22) Mats from wash rack and Al’s stock trailer


23) Feed containers and shelving


24) Wheeled cart


25) Check in his tack rooms for remaining items


26) Get Duke’s saddle and tack out of Torri’s trailer


27) Move the remaining feed etc.




LATER:


28) Finish the front yard so it’s usable as pasture


            Install extra braces on the front fence and tighten fencing


            Install latching mechanism on front gate (later electric gate opener)


            Put up decorative fence to keep horses away from the front porch and landscaping


29) Finish barn wiring and plumbing


            Trench for water and electrical lines


            Put in stall waterers


            Hook up tack room sink and water heater


            Move under-counter refrigerator from house to tack room


            Put drain line through Bug’s paddock


            Install lighting in stalls, tack room, porch


            Install mini A/C/heater in tack room


            Install Ceiling fan over stalls


            Install exhaust fans in eaves

30) Finish upper walls in stalls, complete insulation, and paint


31) Spray insulation in tack room and porch and install sheet rock


32) Finish outside trim on barn overhang and metal roof


33) Build wash/tack rack near barn


34) PAINT


            Exterior siding


            Inside of tack room


            Upper portion of barn walls (prime before installing polyethylene??)


OUTSIDE LANDSCAPING AND PORCH REPAIRS:


35) Fix the pond overflow - put in pipe and fill ditch


36) Build raised beds in side yard


            Plant Satsumas


37) Level yard using fill dirt


38) Repair siding on front porch overhang and ceiling


39) Fix porch posts - by ramp and next to driveway


40) Prime and paint front porch and front door


41) Paint remainder of house brick to match siding


42) Fix cottage roof and ceiling


43) Build round pen


44) Put in landscape lighting


45) Detail dog yard fences and gates


46) Put in steps out of back door of garage


47) Put in electrical outlets in cottage and on porches


48) Install ceiling fan on cat side of back porch


49) Update electrical panel


50) Install vents under the house


51) Remove ice maker and make receptacle above counter


52) Update can lights


53) Set up CD player and speakers upstairs


54) Run cable to office


55) Complete siding on back porch exterior






56) RE-DO MEC BATH


            Toilet


            Vanity


            Floors


            Paint


57) AND FINALLY - COMPLETE THE KITCHEN


            Fix small water leak under the house


            Replace double wall ovens


            Put in new countertops and back splash


            Remove ice maker and install receptacle above the dining room counter

Do any of you who wondered what the big delay was in bringing the horses home have any more questions???
