when I said that Al is never out there at the barn when I go over anymore. This morning when I went by to put Duke's fly mask on him, Al was standing there as I drove up. He proceeded to inform me that since we are paid up through July 25, that will be the deadline for us to get our horses out of there. What!
When I asked why, he said it was because I was so "inconsiderate" in not telling him ahead of time about our vacation. Okay, Mark and I DID each think that the other had told Al we would be gone, so he didn't find out we were leaving until a day or two before we left. That aggravated him because when Mark isn't there, Al needs to feed our horses in the morning. Okay. That WAS a mistake on our part. But he feeds everyone else's horses in the morning EVERY day, and I had already apologized to him about it repeatedly. And Torri fed our horses in the evening for us while we were gone so it just doesn't seem like all THAT big a deal.
The fact is that there is virtually NO ONE who's going to board there with him who will be able to come out in the morning and feed their own horses ANY TIME. Everyone works! The fact that he normally only has to feed ours 10 days a month (weekdays while Mark is offshore and I am at work) actually makes us a better deal than most other folks it seems to me.
And he wasn't even willing to have me get up early and start feeding in the morning either, so I'm sure the truth is that he wants ME out of there personally. I have to say, I feel pretty much the same.
But Mark is supposed to have a procedure done on Monday after he comes home to try and get his heart beating correctly again and correct the arrhythmia that started a few months back so I was hoping he wouldn't have to do much this time off. Guess I better get busy and see if I can get someone else over to help get the place ready. Who? I have absolutely no idea.
