Just got a call from Mark. The helicopter finally made it out to the rig to bring the last of the crew back to shore and he is on his way home at last - should make it by mid-afternoon. Then John's brother, Bruce, is going to stop by to pick up something John left here for him when they were down at Christmas. They should get here just about the same time as Mark. Busy afternoon.
Janet sent me a note earlier today that a property near them has gone up for sale - 17 acres with a VERY strange home. Gave the realtor a call and we are going to go see it tomorrow afternoon. We'd love to live near Mike and Janet. When they were getting ready to move from Hammond back to Baton Rouge we tried to find property large enough that we could all live there then, but had no luck on that.
Well, they're asking way more for this property than we would care to pay, but given that it IS near them, we're at least going to go look at it. But when I say the house is strange, I mean it is strange. What they did was build a warehouse (above), then they built the home INSIDE the warehouse! You think I'm kidding? Check out the pictures on the real estate listing.
(Although they don't SAY in the listing that the house is inside a warehouse, if you look carefully at the pictures you will see that (1) there are no windows in any of the rooms in the house, and (2) the "patio" in the pictures with all the deer heads on the walls is actually outside the house but inside the warehouse.
Hmm. Gotta wonder what they were thinking.
But the property itself is lovely, so . . . might as well check it out.
