Mark is finally home. Seemed like a really LONG two weeks this time. Got him a nice laptop and we've spent last night and this afternoon loading up all the programs and photos and music he likes. WordPerfect, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the actual Acrobat program. That last one is a big deal to me. It makes it possible to turn ANYTHING into a pdf that can then be conveniently stored instead of worrying about printing things out. I wouldn't know how to function without it any more.
I got off work at noon today, so I drove out to Grecos and picked up all the dog and cat vaccines for 2010. (I always give the shots on New Years -- that way I remember when they're due!) Between the vaccines and the Promeris and the ivermec and some medicated shampoo, it was $200-plus. Still -- not bad for 8 animals. Since we got the horses I'm definitely less horrified at the cost of dog and cat care than I once was.
The only real challenge this year is going to be vaccinating the garage cat. I guess I'll have Mark wrap her in a towel and hang onto her while I do the shot. She's been hanging out here for a couple summers so I guess she's probably already spayed or we would have a collection of cats by now so I'm not going to worry about hauling her in to the vet right now, just getting her vaccinated.

I'm always amazed that my small animal shots cost way more than the horses!
