Removing that "comdemned" sign from our home ...

Well, I knew I wasn't the tidiest person in the world.  As a matter of fact, if it weren't for occasional overnight guests, the place would have long since been condemned.  But I guess I didn't realize just what awful shape the place was actually in.                                              "AFTER"

I quit having a cleaning person back when I got my first horse in  2006.  In order to encourage Mark to approve that first horse purchase, I promised to clean the house myself and use the money I had been paying a cleaning service to board the horse.  (Hey - it worked.  I got the horse.  What the heck.)

But . . .  unfortunately owning a horse does not make a woman any neater than she was before -- just ask Mark!  In fact, I'm probably LESS neat now since I would much rather clean up at the barn than at home these days!

So when I received an ad in my Louisiana Bargain e-mail from a woman looking for cleaning work in our area, I decided to just admit that I will never be a tidy person and talk to her about cleaning up the place.  Joyce came by yesterday to give me a price and we agreed that she would clean just the upstairs today, then come back on Saturday when I'm home and do the downstairs where we actually LIVE.  I figured it would only take her a couple hours to deal with the upstairs since it's made up only of our library, a couple guest rooms and bathrooms, and our office.  The dogs and cats don't even go up there.  Well, Mark just called a while ago to say that Joyce was up there from 9:30 this morning until almost 3! Good Lord -- if it took her that long up there, she's probably going to have to pack a suitcase and move in with us in order to get the downstairs cleaned!  I can't wait to get home and see what she accomplished.  (I KNEW I liked her!)
