Vickie and John came in last night, bringing with them better weather at last! John said when they were in England the last time, sunshine followed them wherever they went and it rained everywhere else. I guess they've managed to retain that talent, because the moment they left DC, it began snowing 2 inches an hour. And since they arrived here the rain has FINALLY stopped and the sun is shining. The horses are very grateful.
Here's Duke having his breakfast in the sunshine this morning. Never mind that he's still standing in mud up to his ankles! "This too shall pass."
Ladybug and Lizzie finally got to go back out to the pasture today. Even Lizzie, who absolutely LOVES being inside in a stall, seemed glad to be outside again. Her previous owner cut her mane completely off when she got some wire tangled in there. Instead of taking a few minutes to untangle it, she just took the scissors to it. Grrr. But it seems to be growing out nicely. It's only been a couple months and it's grown long enough to lay down to one side, finally, instead of standing straight up like a mohawk! She's such a beautiful color combination -- a nice light chocolate color with that gorgeous platinum mane and tail. Can't wait to see what she looks like by summer!
Ladybug is the tidiest horse I've ever seen in every way. She carefully keeps her poo in the back corner of her stall. Her coat is always pristine (unlike Lizzie who rolls in mud every chance she gets). Now if her disposition were only as perfect as her personal hygiene . . .
Vickie and John have gone out to the airport to check on their missing luggage. If it hasn't shown up (and the airline website indicates that it has not), then they will be going to buy some more clothes this morning (Vickie says it's a perfect excuse to visit Coldwater Creek). After that, we will decide when to get together with Janet and Mike.
Vickie and John haven't seen J&M's wonderful new house yet. These pictures were taken just after they bought the place last year. Since then they have added a huge barn and six or seven big paddocks.
Vickie just called and they're going over there now, so I'm about to head out. I plan to take updated photos of the place while I'm over there. It's gorgeous. And unlike our own --- tidy! As much as I enjoy visiting people, like J&M and Wendy, who keep their homes pristine, one would think I would spend a bit more time keeping ours a little neater. One would think . . .
