Well, this IS "the South" but it sure doesn't seem to be at the moment! It went down into the 20's last night and it will be even worse over the next few days! Eeek!
We dealt with all our critters yesterday to be sure they could all make it through. We plugged in a heater for the cats out on the screened-in porch in addition to the little heated cat houses that also plug in so they can be warm inside. I figured they needed to be able to come out of their little buildings without freezing so they would be able to eat comfortably over the next week!
As for the dogs, they ALL stay inside except for periodic five minute runs outside to go to the bathroom. And even when they're inside Joe wants to be covered up with a heavy blanket!
And then there's the horses. They all got their blankets on last night -- even Shadow who is obviously NOT used to wearing one. That's what I was doing when she grabbed my arm and bit it and threw me down a month or two ago - I was fastening her blanket on her for the first time. So THIS time she got tied up inside her stall while I put her blanket on so she could NOT throw me down! I hope she reaches the point where she's actually happy to have on a blanket. That's certainly the case with Duke and Arthur.
As for Mark and me -- we're hanging out in the living room with the fireplace on all the time! Well, except while Mark goes out to feed the horses. (He does that for me while he's home - lovely!) Good thing it's not all THAT cold inside the barn anyway.
Well, I sure hope we get back to normal southern weather SOON. (I definitely want it to get back to warm by the time Wendy and Gerard make it down here. I really want Gerard to LIKE this place!)
