Just talked to Wendy. I was telling her about Mark doing so much better FINALLY -- but then she told me about one of Shirley's relatives' husband who just died suddenly at only 55 years old from a surprise brain tumor! How sad! And their house had burned down just a few months back and they were rebuilding currently. But at least since that was the case, she is living near the rest of the family right now. Poor thing. I feel so sorry for her!
As for Mark, they FINALLY began giving him liquid things to eat and drink yesterday evening. They would turn off that tube that runs down into his stomach and pumps out all the fluid for a hour and a half or so after he ate, then turn it back on. Then today, they moved up to giving him oatmeal and some grits along with all the liquid things. He had no problem with the tube turned off, so tonight just before supper time, they finally REMOVED that tube! Hooray!! They also removed a bunch of the things that were being put into his veins so now there is a LOT less for him to deal with when he gets up and practices walking. I'm hoping that if I go get a walker they will let him come home this weekend sometime. We talked to one of the doctors just after they pulled that tube and it's possible they might send a home nurse over here to the house rather than sending Mark to rehab to get him back to normal BEFORE sending him home. I sure would prefer to do it that way!
Well, I need to go feed the horses and the dogs - and find ME something to eat - so that I can get to bed early. I am completely worn out!
Oh, and Buddy and Lisa came back over to help us out! I ran into them over at the store where I was a getting horse feed yesterday and they actually drove clear over here to our place to lift those things out of the car for me (I cannot lift a 50-pound feed sack anymore, unfortunately). Then today they came over and cleared out the barn and the paddocks and a lot of the pasture! WONDERFUL! AND they're going to help us remove all those cemented-in posts around the paddock so Zoilo can install the round pen back there for me. I hate hearing that they need to find another job, but I'm incredibly grateful that they're doing all this stuff now since Mark can't do any work for quite a while longer - if at all. We'll wait and see. But in the meantime they're going to be helping us out and that is SO good.
