Another back injection - but down the road, not now . . .

Dr. Eiserloh showed me my x-rays they took when I went in there this morning.  The problem at the moment is, in fact, inflammation.  But it's inflamed in an area where the disk is actually out of line.  So when I get any sort of inflammation, it presses on the spinal nerves.  No wonder I can't stand up straight when that happens!

Here's a drawing showing exactly what my problem is.

This isn't MY x-ray (mine was actually even clearer than this one),
but those two disks do look the same as mine --
the bottom one way out of line and pressing against the spinal nerves.
Dr. E. wanted to go ahead and order another spinal injection right now.  But I asked him if we could just hold off on it for now.  I figured what's the point in getting it done now that I've already gotten past that inability to stand at the moment.  So he said, "Okay."

But he's also going to set up a prescription for that stuff that you take 6 the first day, then 5 the next, 4 the next, etc. etc.  (prednisone??  Some steroid . . . I forget).  Anyway, when I called to see him 10 days ago when I woke up and couldn't stand up, I couldn't get in to see him until today so the NEXT time that happens he said to call and get an appointment AND get them to call in that prescription so I can recover enough to make it through until I can see him again.  And if that happens again anytime soon, I WILL go ahead and have that spinal injection done again.  After all, the last time I had it done was 2 years ago last December and it's made me feel perfectly normal for that whole two years.  A fine thing.

He did say, though, that if I'm at work, I need to get up and walk around at least every hour.  I'll try and remember to do that.

"Try."

Ha!
