Adoption progress . . . slow but steady

Had the telephone interview yesterday about my adoption of Joy, the little Rottweiler.   It went well, but now I have to wait for another call to set up my initial meeting with her, currently-named-Joy.  Once that's done and I'm still adopting her, then we're going to arrange for them to bring her over to the Runnels Preschool where there are multiple fenced areas.  (John is going to meet us over there and unlock the place.)  That way they can meet each other on land that none of them consider their own.  I've done that a couple times before and once they've played with each other for a while over there, they could all just load up into the car/truck and go home together.  They  already considered themselves a family! 

 

The girl who called me said they would be willing to bring her over there to meet our dogs, but they would not allow her to ride home with them because they are afraid that dogs together inside a car tend to fight.  Hmm.  That might happen if one just jumped in, but not after they've been playing together until they're all exhausted!  But hey -- if that's their issue, then they can drive her over to the house for us, I guess.  I think they MAY have been saying that so they could check out the house, but they would be more than welcome to drive over with us without her in their car!  Oh well.  Whatever.

 

As for her name, we've decided to name her "Buffy," after Buffy the Vampire Slayer . . . Buffy was such a lovely young girl who was perfectly capable of serious protection.  And I'm sure that'll be true of our new baby eventually, too, so . . . . 


Hmmm.  She DOES kind of resemble "Joy" doesn't she?
Or maybe I should say Joy resembles Sarah Michelle Gellar . . .
Well, whatever -- I think Buffy will be a fine name.

Anyway -- Buffy is a perfect name for "Joy,"  huh?  (And it WON'T sound exactly like "Joey" and confuse the two of them.)

 

Given that they haven't called me to  set up the initial meeting yet, though, I guess we won't be getting the dogs all together until at least NEXT weekend.  But I hope I get to at least go meet her sometime this week.
