Awful weekend, but now that I've gotten photos from Wendy things are picking up!

| Here's a picture of Gary with his dog, Dylan, a few years ago before the little guy he was so fond of died. |
And here are photos of Wendy's new apartment. Gees! I knew I needed to clean up our house, but come on! . . . she just moved in there a week or so ago and look how immaculate it already is!!! She sure doesn't get that from me!
Sure is a nice place. And I love the fact that she has an attached garage so she doesn't have to come inside through the rain or snow anymore. And she, like me, loves a two-story arrangement. REALLY nice!

| Over there by that window would be a FINE spot for a recliner or some sort of comfy chair! |
Can't wait to get up there and visit. But not 'til spring. Just can't bring myself to deal with Ohio winter anymore. And besides, she has NO vacation time left at the moment. Gee - I wonder why. ;-D
And as for why my weekend was "awful," well SOMEONE somehow or other didn't fasten shut the gate into Duke's paddock correctly!! He and Arthur were locked into the paddocks because the pasture is soaking wet. And somehow or other they got that gate into the front yard OPEN!! I was letting Joey out and as I opened the porch door for him I saw Arthur go through the gate as I watched! So I RACED out the front door (in my slippers) and ran up the driveway and closed the front gates just as Duke realized Arthur was out and came flying through that paddock gate! Whew! So I went in and changed into real shoes, got a feed bucket, led Duke into his stall and closed his new Dutch door, then went out and did the same with Arthur. Sounds quick, but in fact it took a while. And by the time I got them in, I was soaking wet -- I mean totally drenched. NOT a good experience. But I was incredibly grateful that I saw them go out before they had a chance to go running off down the road! What a relief!
As for what happened, I have NO idea. Nothing appeared broken, but I can't imagine anyone not bothering to latch the gate at all, so who knows what the heck happened.
We had purchased a whole box full of padlocks a couple weeks back, all with the same key - and they're waterproof. But we hadn't put them up yet. So I went over to Lowes and bought a bunch of super heavy-duty chains and closed the gate with one and added the padlock. I really need to go do that with all the gates, but it's been pouring down rain so it's just going to have to wait. I had planned to go to the firm girls' Christmas party Sunday afternoon, but unfortunately I ended up dealing with getting that paddock locked instead. HAD to get it done so I could trust leaving the front gate open so I wouldn't have to get rained on going to work this morning. Of course it turned out NOT to be raining this morning, but . . . at least it's done now.
