We went bicycle shopping on Saturday to get Mark one he can ride from the rig to the place where they're all staying while the rig is being updated . . . about 3/4 of a mile apart. The parking lot is outside that area so it isn't possible to drive back and forth. So since Mark's diabetes has caused him to lose feeling in his feet and legs these days, there's no way he can walk back and forth for miles every day. Thus -- a bicycle.
And we found a pretty cool one over at Capital Cyclery, I think it was called, over on Essen Lane. Then we went out to eat Saturday evening. It seemed like a fine day.
But Saturday night as I was ordering bike attachments from Amazon, Mark came into our office and asked me to check his pulse. I couldn't find it for anything! And he was sweaty and obviously distressed. It turned out that after he took his meds (including something similar to the stuff that caused him problems after the LAST time he had those stents put in) his blood pressure started going up and up and up, and his heart rate became extremely irregular. Talk about scary!
So we went over to the ER and ended up in there for four hours while they checked him out. Eventually, his blood pressure did come back down, but his heart rate is still irregular. So he's supposed to give his heart doctor a call today and go see him. Whew! WHY do these things invariably have to happen over the weekend when none of his regular doctors are available???
Sure hope they decide this mess is being caused by those meds so he can simply stop taking the stuff.
