Mark was feeling pretty darned good again by the weekend, thank goodness. (They checked out all those stents and found that there were just a few minor areas that had begun to fill in -- they'll take care of that with meds, not by physical revision, thank goodness.)
Anyway, he got most of the pastures mowed before the rains began Sunday. Then Sunday afternoon we drove over to Morton's in Madisonville on the Tchefuncte River for dinner with Jan and Mike for their 22nd anniversary! We had been eating over there on OUR anniversary every single year since that was where we went on one of our first dates. But last year on our anniversary, we went over to Texas de Brazil locally instead of Morton's. I do love eating there, but we kind of regretted it, ultimately. I mean, we'd gone to Morton's for fifteen straight years prior to last year! So I was really happy that we got to go down there yesterday with Jan and Mike for THEIR 22nd anniversary. That was where they had their first date, too. I'm glad they decided to stay with it!
And it was a lovely day there, strangely enough. I say "strangely" because as we left home it was raining so hard it was difficult to even see the road! But by the time we got over to Madisonville (on the north side of Lake Ponchartrain, north of New Orleans), it was a lovely, sunny, even reasonably cool day! . . . absolutely amazing for a July day in Louisiana!
And of course, when we drove up, the lights were flashing on Morton's sign indicating that they were in the process of boiling lots of wonderful seafood! Yum!
We got seats out on the porch with a view of a LOT of boats and had some terrific dinners!
Once I finished my broiled shrimp/catfish dinner, I decided to order a strawberry shortcake. Gees! No WONDER they brought it out with TWO spoons -- it was on a FULL-sized dinner plate! The thing was enormous! I still have about a pound of the stuff at home in the refrigerator.
Beautiful, huh?
Morton's really is a super-nice place to go. I do love Texas de Brazil, too, but I think from now on I want to go back to having our anniversary celebrations over at Mortons.
And since we didn't get a picture on our 16th anniversary at Texas de Brazil (it isn't nearly as easy to take pictures inside there in the dark as it is outside at Morton's), we got Mike to take one at Morton's yesterday. Wow, are we ever both GREY! And I've just begun to let my hair grow out a bit, but since it's only been about an inch long all over for so many years, I haven't figured out just yet exactly how to deal with it. It looks pretty darned strange at the moment, doesn't it? Well - maybe it'll look better by OUR next anniversary in September! ;-D
We'll see.
