Coming back from the barn this evening I noticed the insulation under the master bedroom closet hanging down all the way to the ground! What the heck!
| Here's what I saw on my way to the house from the barn. |
So I used the flash on the camera to see what all was under there. Wow. SOMETHING has sure been busy!
Well, this morning when I let the dogs out, they all threw an absolute fit, and when I looked to see what they were barking at it was the fattest armadillo I've ever seen! The thing was absolutely ROUND! I ran back in to get my camera, but by the time I got back out it had disappeared -- under the house apparently since there was nowhere else close by where it could have hidden. So maybe that's what's digging into the insulation under there.
I told Mark this evening that we probably need to enclose all the open sides of the spaces under the house with chain link to keep out anything larger than a mouse. (Those we can just get rid of with mouse poison, as long as no cats or anything can get under there.) The house has brick walls on three sides, and we had to put in vents in those walls to keep everything from getting damp underneath the house. But all the way across the front, and under all the porches is completely open into the space under the house. Definitely time to fix that -- before whatever it is that's digging up into the insulation makes it all the way into the house!!
I told Mark I wanted to be sure nothing got stuck under there if we enclose it, so we could leave a small opening for a while and put a trap into that space so that when anything underneath there tried to get out it would get trapped and we could move it to somewhere else. But he said, no -- better not in case what might get "trapped" is a skunk!
So I guess whatever is under there just won't be long for this world.
Gees. It's always "something," isn't it??
