Saturday - sort of . . .

Woke up the this morning before daylight. Sounded for the world like we were under fire, but it turned out it was just seriously storming out there.

I've been sleeping inside since it's gotten so darned hot and humid lately, and I generally don't hear anything at all when it rains.  So when that thunder woke me up I knew it was seriously storming out there!  It wasn't supposed to so I hadn't closed the horses in away from those huge trees out in back, so I got out of bed in the dark and headed out to the barn to get their breakfasts ready so they would come into the barn.  Ha!  When I got out there to the barn, there they all were, inside their stalls -- every one of them staring out their door as if they thought someone was out there coming after them!  It must have been some serious thunder and lightning to get all three of them to race for their stall.  Duke always does that, but Lizzie generally LIKES standing out in the rain, and Arthur is a big fan of loud noise -- he generally heads TOWARD trucks and mowers and anything else that makes a lot of racket.  Not this time.  A fine thing.  Maybe I won't have to get up and go out in the rain to get them in if they'll come in on their own!

But I guess we'll still need to get those trees topped anyway since even if they don't come down on the horses themselves they could still flatten the fences.

Anyway, once they got fed and closed in and I got back inside, the sun was just beginning to come up so (yep - you guessed it) I climbed back into bed.  And it was a quarter 'til 11 before I woke up again!  Whew!

And the whole day has just gone by . . . I didn't accomplish much of anything.  Oh, I did make one of those huge bowls of layered salad.  After I made the one when everyone was here last week I still had enough of everything to make another one.  But I never got to it while they were here.  And now this one is ALL for me.   Yummmm!

Oh, Wendy called this evening.  I'm so glad she's been keeping me posted.  Her life is unusually interesting at the moment and I absolutely LOVE hearing about it.   ;-D
