Yesterday David finished pulling up all the plywood that still contained mold after that bleach was applied. And Mark went out and bought a truckload of new plywood. If it isn't necessary for the floor, it'll go into those dutch doors David is going to build for the barn stalls. And today he's going to be putting down the new floor. Hooray!
And I stopped and picked up the new oven after work yesterday. I am really looking forward to having an oven where I can actually fit a normal-sized cookie sheet! (The old double ovens were only 24" wide on the outside and probably only 18" or so inside! Teeny!)
Once the new flooring is down, David is going to take out the old ovens and extend the countertop all the way across that end of the kitchen.
Then the new oven will go in UNDER the counter, across from the cooktop on the island in the middle of the room. Now the next big decision is what to use for a countertop. He's going to install the beadboard backsplash (I want something whose color can be changed if I decide to paint the cabinets down the road) and then just wait for me to decide what the heck to do for the countertop.
He did say yesterday, though, that they had changed when they plan to move up to Ashville. Instead of the end of March, they're going to make it the end of April. Thank goodness! That way he will no doubt (make that "probably") be able to finish everything we need done. We've gotten so used to having him do our renovations that we're incredibly grateful that we won't have to find someone else to finish things up!
Oh, and David also managed to get the DISH and Cox Cable lines that used to come up through the floor in the corner of the dining room run up inside the wall to a box installed there so that the new TV that Mark's company gave him for his work anniversary can go up on the wall in the dining room! Now we won't have to eat sitting on the sofa with our food on the coffee table just because there's something on TV that we want to watch! And for that matter, being able to watch TV from the kitchen may well mean I will be willing to spend more time getting food ready!
Maybe.
Oh . . . AND I heard on TV this morning that the Walmart that was going to go up about five years or so ago (just before the country's finances went to h---) over on Burbank at Bluebonnet is finally going to be built THIS YEAR! Excellent! By this time next year, we'll have a big shopping area only 5 or so miles away instead of the current 15 miles away in a couple of directions. Love it!
