Mark got a call from the president of his company last night -- needless to say, he was a BIT concerned. He thought the guy might be about to tell him he'd been let go. But no! . . . instead he told Mark he had won a Ford Expedition!!!
Can you BELIEVE it! I am SO excited! It's not a brand new one -- it's a company executive vehicle so it's probably a couple years old. We don't really know exactly. But regardless, it's obviously worth a lot more than that station wagon he's driving at the moment, that's for sure!
Anyway, his company had a contest among folks who made major positive health lifestyle changes over the past year. Mark's entry was based on the fact that he stopped smoking last January 1 -- after 45 years! Well, that has certainly paid off for him! The company will be flying him over to Houston for a company gathering the day after he gets in next time - December 22 - then he will be driving the Expedition home. Terrific!
He's been driving that little Mercury Sable wagon (the country's LEAST stolen car, we read somewhere) that I used to drive before we bought my Honda Ridgeline. So I'm going to feel a lot better now, knowing he's driving something really LARGE in case he's ever in an accident. (It's the same size as a Ford F-150. You can fold down the back seats and put in a full 4 X 8 sheet of plywood!) He has to do so much driving back and forth to work in all kinds of weather and at all hours of the day and night. That's always worried me. So I am absolutely THRILLED -- even though the gas it will take will probably equal an actual car payment!
It'll also be good to have TWO vehicles that can pull a horse trailer - and that one will have room for all the other animals as well, in case we ever have to evacuate for any reason.

Okay. I need to settle down and get to work. Or try anyway! But I sure am tickled!
