First, let me say that if Mark were not an electrician, we wouldn't HAVE a home phone at all at the moment. But as it is, he has managed to bypass some of the connections that had rusted out in the phone box on the outside of our house so the phone still works (unless it rains, that is), but we have been trying to get AT&T to come replace that no-longer-waterproof box with a working one for THREE DAYS. Has anyone else ever tried to reach them? Their phone connections are completely ridiculous. I cannot tell you how absolutely FURIOUS I was by the time I finally got hold of a service rep -- the FINAL rep. I say "final" because I must have talked to at least half a dozen of them -- AFTER having gone through those computer questions on there over and over and over and over ... and each of them proceeded to transfer me to yet another department where I had to go through level after level after level of those computer questions yet AGAIN.
Well, when I finally reached that last woman, before I even bothered to try and explain - AGAIN - what we needed, I told her that if the problem wasn't solved right then -- by her -- WITHOUT being transferred yet again -- then we would be cancelling their phone service and going with a different company starting NOW. Well, I don't know if she was actually the person who did that scheduling, or if she made the necessary call herself instead of transferring me, but at any rate, a service man is supposedly scheduled to come out tomorrow morning. Or so she said. If he doesn't, we WILL be getting a different phone company by the end of the day tomorrow.
Now -- if only my blood pressure would just cool back down . . .
