Getting there . . .

Okay - one week from today I get that injection.  I started out a little afraid of the thing, but now? . . . I CAN'T WAIT!  Sure hope the thing works.   Our neighbor across the street said he had a series of 4 or 5 of them with no result whatsoever, but that all of his friends who have had them say theirs worked great - but they ususally start to feel like they could use another one after 8-10 months and end up getting them about once a year.  My doctor, though, says that it CAN be a matter of a single injection -- once the inflammation is reduced it can be possible to get back in shape so it doesn't happen again.  Given that I have never had a similar problem in the FIRST 67 years of my life, I've been telling myself that in my case that is entirely possible.  At least I'm trying to convince myself that that's the case!

So - if that works, we can move on to the NEXT problem that needs resolved.  I'm thinking maybe we need one of those "yard vacuums" so we can limit the amount of poisonous stuff Duke manages to eat!   We could vacuum up all the acorns and pecans back there in the pasture, then if we cut off all the branches within his reach on all the trees back there, maybe I could stop worrying about when he's going to manage to poison himself!

When I turned him out of his paddock yesterday, instead of heading out and beginning to graze, he raced straight over to a clump of trees and began eating leaves off branches a good 10 feet off the ground!  (Stretching his neck straight up and raising his front feet off the ground slightly!!)  What the heck!

But althought he has never shown the slightest indication that he has a digestive problem of any kind so far, everything he eats that I look up on line says it's poisonous to horses!

A vacuum would be nice.
