A really nice day . . .

Mark spent the day putting the door knobs and deadbolts on the barn doors, while Jerry went around and cut the vines down from all the trees in the pastures (no more poison ivy!) and mowed all the grass.  They put hay in the HayHut in case the horses didn't feel they were getting enough to eat with the grass cut, but so far they haven't really paid any attention to the hay.  There seems to still be plenty of grass.

As for me, I spent the day clearing out the kitchen and living room -- AGAIN.  It's amazing how quickly the place gets completely cluttered.

Then this evening, we had supper over at Texas de Brazil with Janet and Mike.  Enjoyed seeing Vickie and Ben Giamalva -- they stopped by our table on their way in for dinner as well.

When you come in, you first get access to the huge salad bar. Once you finish, they take that plate and give you a new one, then guys come by your table with all kinds of different meats. If you want some, you use the small tongs they supply you to grab slices as they cut them off of the huge pieces they're carrying straight from the kitchen. The meats are incredible!

Here's one side of that enormous salad bar  - it contains way more than enough different things to make an entire meal.  But then, of course, you would have to pass up those incredibly good meats they have!

It's a very attractive place.  NOT a common thing in Louisiana where most places look like hundred-year-old shacks!

I had been putting off going over there for quite a while because it's so much more expensive than anywhere else around here, but I have to say ... this will NOT be the last time we eat there.

Here's how they serve the meats -- all KINDS of meats - several kinds of steaks, chicken, pork, lamb, sausage.  Anything you like -- they'll have a wonderful version.  And because they do individual servings, if you want to try them all, you can do that!

I T    W A S    T E R R I F I C!    Really REALLY great food. In fact, I think we're going to replace our annual anniversary dinner at Mortens with Texas de Brazil now that Janet and Mike live over here, since Mortens is so far out of the way now.  TdB is in Perkins Rowe, very close by and that's a fun place to visit in general.  (It's very much like "The Green" in Dayton.)

We all really enjoyed the dinner, but next time I think I'd like to go on a week day or a Saturday when all the stores and galleries are open so we can wander around and do some shopping before or after we eat. Talk about a fun time!
