This morning about 4 AM I sat straight up in bed when I THOUGHT I heard lightning strike the house! Scared the cr... out of me! Looked out all the windows but didn't see anything burning or anything knocked over, but heavy winds were blowing the rain almost sideways and the porches were dripping wet despite the fact that they have a 2 1/2-foot overhang and are screened. That almost always keeps all the rain out, but not this time. The poor cats who stay out there on the porch were cowering under their bed! Anyway, I eventually went back to bed and when I got up just two hours later the winds were gone and it had pretty much stopped raining except for a fine mist. But the news said we'd had over 2 inches of rain in that couple hours. I believe it. That storm sounded as bad as the last hurricane!
As for Mark -- he was SUPPOSED to get off work on the rig by helicopter this morning. Unfortunately, the weather there in the Gulf has prevented the helicopters from getting off the ground. If the company decided to send a boat out after them instead, it would take the thing almost all day to get out there, so when I talked to him last they were waiting to see what the weather was going to do before deciding. Unfortunately, that means that the earliest he could possibly get home now is TOMORROW late in the afternoon. He is NOT happy, and neither am I!

It's awful when you plan on seeing them and you can't. I have had the problem of not getting to see my husband due to snow. Yuck.
