Good news and bad news . . .

We've had plumbing problems ever since they finished the fence in front a month or so ago, so we were afraid that somewhere along the line one of those posts had been cemented into at least a portion of the sewer line!  One of those guys who dug the fence holes DID break the sewer line, but Mark fixed that one at the time.  He was hoping they hadn't broken it in another spot and not told him about it!

Well, the plumber came out today and found that the problem was actually all the way out at the road -- further than his 200-foot tool would reach.  So the city came out (with their 300-foot+ tool) and said that the line was clogged out where our drain runs into the main sewer line along the road because instead of a sweeping curve into the main line, the (city) installers put it together with just a "T" and that's why it plugged up.  Well, I guess in one sense that's good, since if it ever happens again we can call the city and not a plumber (at a couple hundred dollars a visit).  It's a bad thing, though, because it IS bound to happen again eventually, the problem being the structure of the line, after all.   Oh, well -- one day at a time, right?   It's fixed "for now."

Oh, we got all the horses hooves trimmed last weekend.   Here's Bug, my "stuffed horse" -- at least that's what she looks like when she has her winter coat on.

Look how you can actually see Bug's ribs in this picture.  She has NEVER been this thin.  Not sure if that's a good thing.  Normally a horse should be about that thin, but in her case, since she never has been . . .  well, I'll just have to keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't CONTINUE to lose weight.

Good news and bad news there, as well.  The good news is, the white line disease they all had after all the wet weather is gone except for one tiny little hole in the tip of one of Lizzie's feet.
We've been using Durasole on their feet each time they're trimmed - and in between whenever I managed to get their feet clean enough (not easy).
But I'm thinking that must have been a major help in making their feet better because last winter we fought that white line stuff ALL winter to no avail.  Well, whatever the reason, they're definitely better.  That's good enough.
The bad, or at least the confusing part, is that I had quit treating their hooves on a regular basis a couple weeks ago when my back started giving me problems!  And now their feet are all well???   Makes me wonder just how helpful my regular cleanings really were.  But - at least I don't feel quite as guilty any more about not being able to treat them as often.

Okay, time to head home and make some french toast from our stale french bread.  Ummmm.  Yummy.
