Today has NOT been a good day here at the office so far. Back in March, the patent office requested replacement drawings for one of our patent applications. I revised the drawings and prepared the Response for the attorney who is handling that application. She sent the revised drawings to the inventor for approval. He replied that they were fine. But for whatever reason, they were never actually filed. I have no idea what happened. But we just got a Notice of Abandonment from the Patent Office because they never received the revised drawings. My records indicated that I filed the things back on March 10 -- but apparently I didn't since I have no filing receipt. Soooo . . . it's going to cost the firm around $1000 to have the application revived. That's bad, but we can live with that. What worries me more is HOW that could have happened -- and whether it could happen again somehow. I'm going to have to look into it further when I get some time.
But . . . on the plus side, the office is closing at 3 today and I'm headed for the barn. Hooray!
