I did leave work early today. Stopped at LSU and got one of Joey's prescriptions filled, then went over to Wal-Mart to get his antibiotic prescription filled (waaaay cheaper than LSU). I parked in the handicapped parking area - no WAY I was going to walk all the way across the parking lot! Then when I got home I went online and ordered his new prescription hypo-allergenic dog food -- $90 for a 25-lb bag!!! Argh!! I'll tell you what - I don't know what's causing his skin problems, but if all this stuff doesn't clear it up I don't know WHAT we'll do next. Wow!
The spinal specialist's nurse called to tell me he isn't in today, but that she will check with him when he comes in tomorrow to see if he'll fit me in soon instead of having me wait for an available appointment WEEKS from now. (Thank you, thank you, thank you.)
I don't know what they'll do about my back, but I'm confident they will do SOMETHING. They better! I signed up today for a 2-day Cory Bourque Natural Horsemanship Clinic in October. He's a trainer from New Iberia - a couple hours from here - who's going to hold one of his clinics over in a covered arena just down the road from us. Just could not pass that up.
He often gets the horses he works with to lay down - after which they become a lot more calm and willing. I know because Torri and Daniel took a mare they bought at an auction up in Folsom over to him after she refused to cooperate. (And that was saying a LOT -- Torri is VERY good with all her other horses - and she probably has darned near a dozen of them at this point!) Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this thing. I posted the info on the Mule Sense Facebook page and I'm hoping someone else with a mule will sign up as well. We'll see, I guess. At least Torri will be there, too - and maybe Daniel, so that'll be good. And by October the weather should actually be reasonably comfortable too. Wow! Can't wait!
