Thursday night . . .

Had dinner tonight over at Boutin's (live Cajun music) with most of Mark's family who live here in Louisiana (Opelousas, Church Point, Lafayette, etc.).  They're all over here for Judy's surgery tomorrow morning.  She has decided to have her leg amputated since the process of having the artificial knee and leg bones removed, waiting for the leg to heal, then replacing them would take about a year.  If she has it amputated, it will take only two weeks until she can have a prosthetic leg put on and be able to walk and function normally - for her.  She's had problems getting around well ever since she had that artificial knee/leg added back in 2008, so this won't be much different for her initially - and maybe she'll function even BETTER down the road.  At any rate, she gets to go home very soon instead of having to spend months in a rehab facility.   Vickie said she didn't spend any time at all trying to decide about it -- she knew right away that she wanted the leg amputated.  So - the whole family will be up there while she has it done tomorrow.

Except me.

That dadburned patent application that has to be filed tomorrow? . . . well that bozo down in New Orleans who's SUPPOSED to be "helping" us with it has been no help at all to me.  He SAID he would send us the information on the figures required, along with a draft of the application by yesterday, then he changed it to today.  But when I left at 5 PM we still hadn't gotten a thing.  So  . . . I'll be going in to work at 5 AM tomorrow so I can revise about 30 drawings -- assuming he got around to sending the info tonight.  I can't even get the filing papers completed until I see the application.  I think you could say that both John and I were "less than pleased" (ahem) come 5 PM.

I sincerely hope we won't be dealing with that guy again anytime soon!

But for now - time for bed.  Gotta get up at 4!
