Friday afternoon

It's lunch time here at the office and the sun is shining and the day is lovely - despite the forecasts to the contrary.

No rain!   No clouds!

Excellent!

Mark called a while ago and he and Jerry are in the process of finishing up a number of those short fence runs - the one dividing the back pasture from the front on the canal side, the one at the front of Duke's paddock separating it from the front yard, etc.  So once we pick up the gates tomorrow and they get installed we will have reached the point where the horses COULD come home even if not another thing were to get done.  Relief!

As for me, I'm going to spend tomorrow running a bunch of totally unnecessary errands -- pick up some French Market flavor Cool Brew coffee (coffee and chicory) at a grocery the company let me know is carrying the stuff, pick up some "holds" that are in at the library, see what kind of saddle racks, blanket racks, and halter hooks are available here in town (as opposed to online), go buy a couple of those chrome racks from Sam's -- just generally stay out of their way!

I can't wait to get those shelving units in place.  We have one of them over at Al's place that I've been using to keep the feed containers and things on.

Our feed rack at Al's (really grubby, FULL of spider webs) barn

But now they also make a corner unit the same depth as that one, so I'm going to get one of those and a second straight one and put them in place in the corner of the inside tack room.

The three of them will provide more than enough space for every single bottle, can and package I've got - ALL of them.  In fact, I think I'm just going to get some s-hooks and hang them on the ends of those racks to hang the halters and bridles and fly masks on.  No need for wall hooks.

The racks come with heavy plastic sheets that fit on top of the chrome grid shelves making them really easy to keep clean. And they're relatively cheap, too.  The big 48" wide ones are about $85 or $90.  The corner one is  the same on their online web site, but I think last time I was at the store they were only $69, so -- we'll see.  Anyway, I just LOVE the things!

Now all I need is to find some sort of racks for the saddles and blankets.  No hurry on that, though since I'm not going to put the saddles out there until we get the power run and an A/C or at LEAST a dehumidifier installed.

Okay - lunch is over.  Back to work.
