Had a great morning. I was standing in the kitchen getting ready to boil some eggs to make tuna salad when it got dark so suddenly it was like someone turned off the lights - not something that should work with daylight. The sky opened up and the rain began to come down in sideways sheets. Awful. I turned on the TV to a loud beeping and a serious storm warning.
I jumped in the truck to go bring the horses into the barn, but before I got anywhere near the place I had to turn around and try and get home. There were trees and power lines down across the road and the wind was so strong I was afraid another of those trees along the bayou might come down on the truck! When I got to the highway, the traffic light was out, but I finally managed to get across and back home. Whew! I sure hope the horses are okay. At least there are no trees anywhere in their paddock. I never liked that, but today . . . not such a bad thing.
When I got back inside the house, the weather channel was saying that the winds were at 60 miles an hour and that hail was coming down on a road only a half a mile from us. Sure hope the horses didn't have to endure the hail! But I can't get over there to see what's going on. The power is out everywhere (we have an automatic generator so I'm still online).
Looking at the radar on my cell phone now, it looks like the storm is almost past. We're finally on the back side of the red area at this point but it's still raining pretty heavily. Now THAT is a good thing!
