Well, the horses were fine after the storm. There were little branch pieces laying around all over, but none of the horses seemed the least bit disturbed. Pretty messy looking from being rained on while covered in dust and sweat, though. Gave them all baths tonight (despite the record high temperatures for the fourth day in a row!), then put them in their stalls to feed them and wait for them to dry before putting them back out so they couldn't roll in the dust while they were wet. That's when I remembered that there were no fans in any of their stalls. So while they ate, I raced BACK to Wal-Mart (for the SECOND time today) and bought three new fans. By the time I got back, though, they were already dry and I was exhausted, so I turned them out and set the fans by their stalls. I'll think about putting the darned things up - well . . . later.
So another weekend is over. But at least I'm only going to have to work for three days this week. Well, I'm only going to have to work in my office for three days. But then I'll have to get through Thursday. The car has to go in for service, I have to pack (and probably do laundry and ironing as well), and Mark and I both have to have blood work done. If we get past all that we can crash, then get up early on Friday morning, feed the dogs and head north! Can't wait!
But poor Torri. She's been off work and relaxing and enjoying life all this week . . .only to have to go back to work AND deal with all our animals for the next week and a half. NOT a good way to end a vacation. Sorry! REALLY poor timing.
