All is calm, all is bright . . .

Not much going on around here at the moment.  The most excitement I've had over the past few days was discovering that the "garage cat" had slipped by me at some point and gotten inside the house where she is NOT allowed to be.  I found her wandering around the house last night with Boo just laying there watching her in fascination.  The cats who actually belong to us live out on the screened porch, not inside, because I am allergic to them and can't have cat hair anywhere where I am likely to touch it and then my eyes -- at which point my eyes swell shut.  So Boo knows that there are NEVER cats in the house.  In fact, he looked like he didn't actually believe it was a real cat.

Garage Cat is a stray who wandered up a long time back and who I have been feeding in the garage for ages.  At this point, we just leave one of the garage doors up about 6" so she can come and go as she likes and can escape from all the stray dogs who come by here.  I think she's just hanging out expecting to be promoted to "barn cat" once the barn is ready.  No problem.  Her only real competition on that score is Li'l Guy.  Maybe they can work as a team.

I sure hope that's still the most excitement around here come this weekend, though.  Today IS the first day of hurricane season - usually not a big deal.  But Mark just sent me one of those Wilkens Weather Technologies reports that they get on the rig that said an area of low pressure centered off of the Atlantic coast of Florida is moving across the Florida peninsula toward the Gulf, and that there is a chance that it will be upgraded to a Tropical Depression over the next 12 hours!  Uh-oh.  Maybe I better get busy and try to find someone to install those front window shutters for me.
