We hired a guy last month to add insulation to our attic and to insulate the bottom of our house (which is up on piers) with closed cell foam. He finished the attic in no time a few weeks ago. But he has been working on the bottom of the house off and on for a while now. He changed the type of equipment he uses for that kind of job, and has had a few "hiccups" in the change-over process. Anyway, he finally finished tonight at almost 9 PM! Phew! I'll bet he's incredibly glad to be out of here! That job could NOT have been easy. The house is only about 18" off the ground, and it sits on rows and rows of concrete piers. Then it's brick on three sides, so no matter what part of the house he needed to get to, he had to crawl on his belly under the front porch and then around all those rows of piers. Good thing he isn't claustrophobic! And thank goodness it wasn't high summer. That would have been an even worse nightmare!
He was really nice about it, though. And he has actually agreed to come back and put in ventilation fans in that back brick wall to prevent humidity build-up under the house and add a couple attic vents as well.
Anyway, if you live near Baton Rouge and need anything like that done, give him a call. He's VERY good and very reasonable:

As for me, I finally went back to work today. Good grief! I was only gone for 2 1/2 days, but you would not BELIEVE all the crap piled on my desk when I got back! And my boss had decided that he needed to file several patent applications this week that were not scheduled that way before. I think when I disappeared he got concerned and decided to file everything immediately when I got back just in case I had to be gone again. So it's my own darned fault, I guess.
Still, it was good to be back. And in fact I was actually relieved that most of that stuff WAS left on my desk and not attempted by someone else who might have done it wrong -- or at least in some way I wouldn't have appreciated. Okay -- so maybe I'm NOT ready to retire!
