While we watch the water levels climb in places like Butte LaRose and Krotz Springs, the areas that are NOT being inundated by flood waters (like Baton Rouge!) are experiencing record droughts.
Baton Rouge averages about seven inches of rain from April 1 to the first week of May. This year, we only had 1.27 inches during that whole time. And there's no significant rain predicted during the next couple weeks either. But hey -- I guess as those things go, drought is waaaay better than flooding, that's for sure. (Mark loves it -- the grass grows more slowly so he doesn't have to mow nearly as often!)
Mark headed back to work tonight. When he gets home in June, he's scheduled to have more tests done the day before we plan to leave on vacation. So it depends on how those work out whether we get to go or not. Keep your fingers crossed, okay?
