Maybe there's some sort of contagious foot pain thing going around because Torri and I both have terrible foot pain lately. She saw an orthopaedic doctor yesterday (she pet sits for him so she got in instantly!), I'm going in tomorrow afternoon --- same clinic, different doctor. Hers is going to require that she stay off of it as much as possible for the next SIX WEEKS. I just hope they can do something about mine. Mine has been bothering me off and on for the last couple years, but it's been hurting more and more frequently until now it's painful almost all the time. It's impossible these days to walk around for any length of time, so no all-afternoon shopping trips. I HATE THAT!
But at least the horses' feet all seem to be fine. That's a really good thing. And that reminds me -- I read an article at Horse.com yesterday that said that psyllium (the stuff they give horses to clear sand out of their intestines and prevent sand colic) has been found to lower glucose and insulin levels in their blood and prevent laminitis caused by grazing in insulin resistant and laminitic horses! Talk about excellent timing! I am definitely going to start Lizzie on that before we bring her home. I've been wondering if it was going to be safe to allow her to graze on the super-plentiful grass here at the house after her reaction last year to spring grass. I think now that summer is here, if we put her on the psyllium she should be just fine. Nice.
Took off work early this afternoon. Couldn't get Boo to go out this morning before I left for work because of all the thunder and lightning. I thought about leaving him out on the porch, but I didn't want to end up with another storm-phobic dog so I let him back in and just went back home after lunch to let him out. It was nice to be able to sit down and put my foot up too. It really IS killing me. Let's hope there's something wrong with it that they can actually FIX. (I dread hearing that it's something like arthritis or gout or some other "aging" thing that they can't do a thing about.) So keep your fingers crossed, okay?
