Just got back from the vet school. The dermatologist who examined Joey (before I got over there - he was back at therapy by the time I came) said we should try putting him on antibiotics once more -- but this time for SIX weeks. If the breakout doesn't appear to be gone by 3 weeks, though, we will probably take him off and do a culture and sensitivity at that point. If it does appear to be gone at 3 weeks, we will just continue giving him the antibiotics for the final three weeks to be sure the infection is, in fact, gone completely. She's going to give me a prescription I can have filled at Wal-Mart this time, instead of one I would have to take to the vet supply and pay $70 or so for. Okay - that'll work.
She also said Joey is just the cutest boy in the world and that he spent the entire exam "kissing" her face instead of protesting. Smile. That boy knows how to worm his way into anyone's heart! (I think the fact that he looks so vicious at first glance makes him all the more endearing to people when they discover how affectionate he actually is.)

Mark called just a while ago to say he was finally on dry land. In theory they get off at 6 AM, but they've been having to change shifts from their current location by helicopter, and they won't all fit on one at once, so he had to wait for a second trip in. It will probably be about 8 or so tonight before he actually makes it home. Still, it WILL be the same DAY he's supposed to get back, even if it is a little late. We can live with that.
