Well, if your car is going to go dead on you, Sonic is as good a spot as any. Went out to lunch there today because I'm getting close to the end of the book on CD I'm listening to at the moment and I wanted to listen while I ate. But then when I got ready to head back to work -- nothing.
Why is it that that kind of thing always, always, always happens when Mark is offshore? Why IS that???
But on the plus side, I DO have AAA. So they came out and jump started the truck and I proceeded over to the Honda dealer to have the battery replaced. When I got there, they told me the battery was 100% and was I SURE that was the problem. I said, "Hey, I called YOU and YOU told me that was the problem." (I had to call them to check because the truck behaves a lot differently from any vehicle I've ever had in the past. Instead of just a click, when I turned the key every light on the dash started blinking and there was a soft buzzing sound - but no engine start. Odd.)
Anyway, they turned on the radio and lights for ten minutes, and by then the thing had gone down from 100% to something like 30%. So the battery was the problem - thankfully. I was beginning to worry that there was some sort of electrical problem somewhere else - which would have been waaaaay worse. So everything is fine now.
I'm going to lose a whole day of vacation this week, though. It took over 3 hours to get back to work today, and tomorrow Joey has to see the dermatologist at LSU. His appointment is at 1:30 so I'll have to leave right after lunch to go over there. He will be in therapy there tomorrow all day, though, so at least the students will have a chance to do their examination before I get there so I won't have to be gone from work nearly as long as I ordinarily would. (The vet school is no different from a human teaching hospital - everything that gets done either gets observed or practiced by the medical/vet students first.)
Well, time for bed. It's supposed to go back down to the 40's tonight, so I need to go find an extra comforter so I can sleep outside again tonight! Love it!
