It's been freezing cold and miserable all week. And Mark's been gone to that first responder class - which isn't as awful as I thought, actually, since they're training him this time to deal with all sorts of medical emergencies unrelated to the rig - women and children and the whole nine yards. That combined with the fact that Mark NEVER panics for any reason, will make me feel even safer when he's around! I love that -- and him, too!

Bought some super high wattage fluorescent bulbs because I wanted extra-bright lights in the livingroom lamps. And like most things, I bought them online from Amazon, not from the local hardware store (not that I've ever seen such high wattage bulbs locally anyway). Hmm. MIGHT have been a mistake this time. Why? Well -- here's one of those I ordered laying next to a regular wattage bulb:
CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!!! The thing is almost a foot high! Now WHERE am I going to find any sort of light fixture that will take something that size???
I guess we'll save them for the barn. They ARE equal to 350 watt incandescent bulbs - without the heat - so even if they're high on the wall they should be bright enough to light up the whole place pretty well without any fire risk.
Still, you would THINK they would have mentioned the size of the things in the description, wouldn't you? I went back to see if I overlooked it, but no . . . no mention anywhere of the giant size of the things. Live and learn, huh?

Come to think of it, the weather better soon get better because I'm spending WAY too much time ordering all SORTS of stuff online. Got new drapes for the office and for the dining room. Got new halter bridles for Duke and for Lizzie (except I had to return Lizzie's - the buckles didn't work), got a new bit for Duke, and bit guards. Oh - and two long girths so I can try riding in that Y-rigged saddle. And a THREE-step mounting block that's a full 2 feet high - I'll never be getting any younger, so . . .
Oh, and an Oster "undercoat rake" that I hope will make it possible not to pay that ridiculous amount of money to have Boo groomed. (Or less frequently anyway.) Hey -- the weather better improve soon or we just might end up bankrupt! I'm hopeless.
