Wombat Gallery ARTISTE . . .

My friend Cass (Cassandra Graham), who just opened a new gallery in Waynesville, Ohio called "The Wombat Art Works," began her career as an artist painting in oils - primarily wildlife paintings.  I thought that was pretty amazing, but as time goes on she keeps trying new things that completely astound me.  A couple years back she moved on to beading.  Remember the pictures I posted on here back in February?   Here's one of my favorites of her creations, "French Vanilla"

The site that displays her beading designs is Wilde Jewels.

But then -- just a couple weeks ago -- she decided to take a doll-making workshop.  The assignment - a fantasy doll to be done in an 18-hour period spread over three Saturdays.  Well, here's what she came up with.  She not only looks nothing like a beginner's project, she looks NOTHING AT ALL like what I think of when I think of doll-making.  Of course not.  Not from Cass.  The woman is extremely creative and truly inspired.
Here's what she said when she sent me the photos:
Just what I need....another obsession...sigh. She started out as a lump of clay and some florist wire....now she's about 10" tall, has a knobby humpback that the pictures don't show, underneath her body is sewn into a ghastly brown/black 'body stocking' I made that makes her look like a senior citizen zumba nightmare. The bird skull is not real..I sculpted it, but it has a real wolf tooth hanging off it along with a coyote toe bone in her hair.

Don't know when she will begin listing dolls on her web site, but in the meantime, here is the link to her gallery blog,  THE WOMBAT WEEKLY WEADER.

I'm hoping the artists who display their work there at the Wombat Art Works will get together and list their stuff online somehow.  I'm sure it will ALL be incredibly unique and I would love to be able to see it!
