Our internet at the house is out of commission at the moment so this will be short. (They're supposed to be coming to fix it this afternoon. Hope so. I feel amazingly isolated without internet access. Kind of like not having a car that runs.
Anyway, we all hung out at the barn yesterday after work while Lori worked with Pops. That is SUCH a sweet horse. He's going to be a real gem in a year or so. (Check out the photos I added to the "Lori and Pops" page above.)
I plan to spend some time working with Lizzie and/or Bug this evening. Depends on how Lizzie seems to be feeling once I start working her whether we proceed to some minimal riding in the paddock or I move on to working with Bug. I'm sure Bug will feel just fine, but that doesn't mean she'll be happy about it if she's the "chosen one."
She is generally NOT happy to see anyone who's not carrying food or cookies! Probably reason enough to work with her! ;-)
Then this weekend we plan to kick back, go visit with Janet and Mike, and just hang out since Mark has to go back to work on Tuesday already. They normally work 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. But each year about this time, they come home for just one week, go back for just one week, then go back to the normal 2 / 2 schedule in order to switch out which crew gets to be home for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years each year. It's bad enough for Mark, but I really feel sorry for those guys who live up in places like Indiana and Florida who have to spend the better part of a whole day driving to the dock. They are essentially only off for 5 days! It would essentially be better to do 3 on / 3 off to accomplish the same ends. Oh, well. Not for me to say, obviously.
By the way, mama goat finally had her baby last month. It is SO cute. And SO agile! That baby can jump straight up off the ground with no apparent effort at all. It's not even a foot tall, but I'm telling you, it's a darned good thing they're enclosed in 6-foot chain link!
Hope the internet connection is fixed when I get home and I can check back in this weekend.
