Niki is BACK !

Well, it's been 3 weeks since Niki had her tail amputated -- no small undertaking.  (The base of her tail is larger than my wrist!)   But between the surgery and all the new meds, she seems to be feeling ever so much better.  Instead of lolling around in her dog bed all the time, she is now up, following the cat around the house, and keeping a practiced eye out again for the approach of strangers.  I am sooo relieved.

Look at this face!  What a sweet girl.

Rocky is happy to have her back, as well.  Here he is "discussing" it:
Rocky really DOES "talk" to you!  The only other dog I've ever had who did that was a Basenji.  But then Basenjis are known for those vocalizations.  Catahoulas -- no, not that I've ever heard.  Our only other Catahoula, Pete, would bark occasionally, but certainly never "talked" like Rocky does.  Rocky moves his mouth and adds inflection to the sounds and it looks and sounds for the world like he's trying hard to communicate in some foreign language (Catahoula?)
