It's been a nice week . . . and it's an interesting day!

A couple of our relatives -- both John (from Washington, DC) and Bruce (from Mississippi) -- came over here last Saturday and they've been working all week on their acreage next door where they're both going to be building their houses once they get retired a few years ahead.  But there are SO many huge trees over there!   All those acres of theirs are "woods" -- NOT a good thing!  So they're trying to take most of them down so that they'll be able to raise the land and plant nice grass and add special trees and flowers etc. - as well as build each of their homes!  But on the plus side, it IS good that they can hang out here at our house while they can do all that work just next door.

It'll be great when all those trees around that huge live oak will be gone -
then we'll be able to see that gorgeous live oak.

And we get to visit with them once they're done working each day, and we generally have meals with them as well -- we're really enjoying it!

We got a bad note from the Louisiana income tax outfit.  We got a nice company to deal with our income taxes, and they did great with all our odd things this year (like the Solar installation -- we're supposed to get a tax refund from that huge solar installation cost).  So they got our taxes put in at the end of last month and we've already gotten the refund money back from the U.S.

But although Louisiana is supposed to refund a WHOLE lot more money, they apparently don't currently have enough, so we probably won't get any refund for a good while.  (We actually got a note this week saying they would get back to us in three months!  Gees!)

I'm now about to get in the process of trying to find someone to come stay here at the house and take care of feeding the dogs and cat and horses for a week or more so we can go up to Ohio come spring.  I hope we can find someone at the LSU Vet School to do that, but hey -- I'm sure crossing my fingers!

John and Bruce will be heading  home later today.  So we're planning to go vote, then feed the horses a bit earlier than usual, then head up to visit with Jan and Mike.  Mike has come down here already to visit with John and Bruce before they leave, but Jan stayed home handling all the things they just brought home from her mom's house that's being sold up in Mississippi.

Mark and Mike visitng with John and Bruce on our front porch.  ;-D

And today as well, Jerry installed a 30-foot giant pipe that goes underground out from our pond and into the canal so that the water can run out a bit lower so that when it storms and there's a horrendous amount of rain, it can get out into the canal (where it runs on down into a giant state lake) instead of that water overrunning our pond and making the pastures so muddy!  Should be WAY more helpful.  Well, it IS supposed to storm again next week so we'll see how well it works.

It's been a fine day and it'll be even more fun as time goes on!
