Oh no -- ANOTHER sad pet . . .

When I went out last night to clean up the back screened porch where the cats have been living, Abigail was lying down.  I didn't think much about that until I set down her food that she loves -- and she didn't move!  So I moved it over right next to her and she STILL didn't move!  But eventually, when I finally turned the little bowl onto its side and set it up right by her face, she did eat quickly and happily.  But she still didn't MOVE -- and she didn't even raise her head! Good grief!

Look at this . . . she's eating like crazy here -- but with her head still laying on the floor!

And in order to get her to get a drink of water, I had to finally pick her up and put the little water bowl right up to her face. She went ahead and drank then, but she wouldn't push her face down into the water OR pull it up, so once she drank a bit, I would pull it away slightly so she could breathe, then put it back for her to drink more until she wasn't sucking in the water.  Then I laid her back down and she STILL didn't move at all - she laid there unmoving as she had been before.  And I saw that she had obviously been peeing right where she was laying when I picked her up.  So she needed to be moved away from that mess!  Poor baby!  So I called AVS, her vet, first thing this morning and she's going to be taken over there to see what on earth the problem might be later this morning.  Poor poor thing!  She may need to be euthanized if they can't do anything about it because she sure can't just lay in a single place indefinitely!  Well, we'll see what they determine.  Fingers crossed!

NOTE - Tuesday 6/23:  Abigail is staying over at AVS for at least a couple days while they try to get her back in shape.  They're handling her urinary problems, but once they get that straight she's going to have to go over to LSU for an MRI -- they can't figure out there at AVS why on earth she can't walk.  She's been x-rayed and there hasn't appeared to be any problem at all in the x-rays.  That's why she's going to need an MRI.  I'll tell you what, it's a darned good thing I'm still working! Between Arthur's foot, and Gigi's spay (also at LSU next week), and all of Abigail's medical fees we're going to need plenty of funds this month, that's for sure!

And when Abigail comes back home we'll place both Abigail and Li'l Guy inside -- in the kitchen -- instead of out on the porch in the currently horrendous heat.  (And on the plus side, I'll be able to clean up that back screened porch so that we'll be able to go out there and sit down and watch the horses in the pasture out in back.  I'm going to love that! )

Anyway, when Abigail comes home, we also need to have put up a gate between the kitchen and the rest of the house, so that the dogs can't harass either of the cats, and the cats can't mess up the rugs and furniture over in the rest of the house. And since the opening between the kitchen and the living room is about 9 or 10 feet wide, getting a fence/gate to put up between there is probably going to be fairly expensive as well!  Gees!

Those cats have been kept out on the screened porch because one of them (probably Abigail) had been peeing and pooping everywhere instead of getting into that litter box where they're SUPPOSED to be going to the bathroom.  But when Abigail gets back home I'll put some cat litter into some sort of VERY low container so she won't need to jump up to get into it.  Then I HOPE then she won't mess on the kitchen floor -- but if she does, it would be fairly easy to clean up that floor anyway.   And I'm sure those two will both be happy to be inside in the air conditioning now that it's almost 100 degrees outside every day lately.  Whew!

Okay -- given our need for plenty of money, I guess I better get back to work, huh?

I hope she gets feeling better. I hate it when my pets are sick. If only they could talk!
