Good grief! . . . a truck fell off the driveway into our ditch yesterday!

Remember that issue (last July, I think?) when the city dug out the drain pipe in the front of the house?  That drain pipe had been put in and covered with dirt a couple years back after the city guys clearing out the ditches had broken the water line that runs across there and barely missed the gas line!  But apparently they had put in too small a drain pipe and the water wasn't draining away from the area around the mayor's office down the road from us, so that's why they opened up the ditch again - to let the water flow out better.  They SAID they were going to put in a bigger pipe across that space and they were going to break up the driveway and put a bigger one under there as well.  But when the water flowed through just fine after the ditch was opened up, even with the old pipe across the driveway, they never came back!

Unfortunately, they had dug up the ditch ALL the way to the driveway making it very difficult for anyone in something larger than a little car to get in there safely because the drive is fairly narrow and it's a long way down!

Well yesterday, a guy missed turning down the road just before our house, so he stopped in front and was planning to back into our driveway and turn back around.  Well, obviously, that poor guy missed pulling into the driveway and he ended up in that ditch!  It took an hour or more for someone to come pull him out.

Look at all those weeds growing up in that dirt they threw up against the fence when they dug out that ditch. What a MESS!  They better get that all fixed up again!

Well, on the plus side -- that wreck may finally make it important enough for the city to get back over here to the house and close up that ditch!   (We've actually been trying to get them to do that since 2008!!!  Grrrrr!!!)
