Mark was supposed to have surgery yesterday, but his symptoms were suddenly changing. First of all, he insisted upon going into the bathroom - the first time in a full week! And that happened a couple of times prior to what WOULD have been his surgery, so they decided to cancel it completely for now and give him things like jello and various kinds of liquids and see if those things will manage to get out of his stomach and on through his intestines -- or not. They're supposed to be checking on that today, but I haven't been over there yet to see what they found. If it does go on through, then they will update what he gets to eat a little at a time. But if it does not, then surgery will probably be rescheduled. So . . . fingers crossed! (I'm finally back at work today, and when I told my boss about it, he said that was exactly what happened with his dog! . . . she ate a stuffed dog toy and it got stuck in her intestines. She was scheduled for surgery, but just before that, she also went to the bathroom and the surgery was cancelled. ;-D He said, "Mark didn't eat a stuffed toy, did he?" Funny!)
And they even sent Mark to physical therapy yesterday. I hope they continue to do that, because having been fastened to that bed for an entire week without being able to get up, he is not at all good at walking right now, and his back and neck are hurting him like crazy, as well. He really needs to be able to move around. Of course, if he does get to eat and it goes on through his stomach, they will no doubt remove that tube that removes things from his stomach and then he WILL be able to actually get up. Let's hope that happens.
And Judy has still been functioning well with the assistance of Hospice. Lots of family members are visiting with her and some are staying with her for the day while Christine is at work. (She has a job again now.) Vickie has gone over there for today. I really hope everything is still going well for Judy. We'll find out tonight.
Now if only Dale is doing better. I asked Wendy about it, but I haven't heard back yet. Fingers crossed.
Oh -- and when Mark was in the emergency room down on the coast, someone from Hercules took a blood test for the company. That was several hours after he had gone into the emergency room and he had already been given pain meds. So now the company is saying that since the blood test indicated morphine, he no longer has a job!! Oh come on! Good grief!
I'm sure he can straighten that out eventually, but for now he could care less. At least they won't expect him to go back to work at the moment and that's good because he certainly can't anyway! Gees!
