Happy horses! . . .

Me too -- Mark got the electric fencing installed in the front before he went back to work so that the horses could graze in the front yard WITHOUT eating the flowers around the house and barn.  The only thing accessible to them in front this time are the Magnolia trees.  But (so far anyway) they aren't eating the trees -- just grazing that nice weed-free grass.  Love it!

To begin with, though, they all went racing around the whole front area checking out the fencing to see if there was anywhere else they could get to.  They spent a good half hour at it!

Shadow and Arthur went running around checking out all the fencing, but Duke stopped much sooner than they did -- he prefers to check out the road.  He has gotten out TWICE and gone down the road the visit our neighbors.  But Mark has added electric wire to that fence so that Duke can't even stick his head out and eat the grass on the other side now, but he's still interested in what's going on down the road, apparently.

But Arthur and Shadow were having a fine time running around out there.

Eventually, they did settle down and go back to grazing.  At that point I felt like I could go inside and stop keeping a continuous eye on them.

But even after Duke started grazing he would still look up every time someone came down the road.  ;-D

I'll tell you what - Duke should really be a trail horse.  He LOVES going new places and he's happy to be around anyone at all . . . well - except our one neighbor.  ;-D    But Arthur and Shadow have no desire whatsoever to go anywhere new alone, apparently.  I originally asked Shadow to go out in front, but she wouldn't go through the gate by herself at all.  But when I called Duke he immediately raced out there the moment he saw the gate open. Then Arthur and Shadow followed him on out.  Hmmm.  Interesting.

There's Duke checking on a car going by again.  (Shadow and Arthur pay NO attention whatsoever.)

They've been out there a couple hours so far and the three of them are all grazing on that small end of the yard.   The last couple times I've looked out the window, Duke has been standing under that narrow Magnolia tree over there.

I have to wonder why in the heck they want to hang out over in that small area when they could be over on the other side of the driveway in the much larger area where there are a number of really LARGE trees that would provide a whole lot more shade.

Here's that area on the other side of the driveway where they could ALL be grazing in shade.
Hmm.  Maybe they think they'll get stuck back inside their paddocks if they go over there near the gate.  (The gate is there on the far left.)  Oh well -- when it's time for dinner I'm sure they'll go on back in.  No matter what they're doing at suppertime, they drop everything and race into their stalls when it's time to eat.

Well, in the meantime I guess I can just go back downstairs and relax and watch them.  Nice.
