Bill Manns re-posted an article about his brother's oldest living Arabian horse, Magic! That article came out a few years back - she's actually 45 this year rather than the 42 years old in the article - but it's still great to read about her again.

Bill's brother had a big party for Magic's 42nd birthday back in 2011 so there are a lot of nice pictures from that year:
Well, the main thing I think about when I see pictures of Magic is the fact that we don't have any Arabian horses. Darned good thing! . . . given that I'm turning 70 this year! Duke and Shadow are both 12 years old, but Duke is a Missouri Fox Trotter and Shadow is a Tennessee Walker, I imagine they'll both only live about as long as Mark and I will at most. I'm sure Wendy and Jan will be happy to hear that since that makes it likely that neither of them will have to haul anyone over to their place once Mark and I are gone. What a relief, huh ladies? (Although I'm not discussing Arthur. Ahem. He IS only 6 . . . and mules DO live well into their 30's. Hmmm. Something to think about -- eventually.)

Wednesday 6/11:
WHAT!! I was filling out a new insurance policy application for Shadow today, and while going back to check out the application I had filled out for Duke I realized that he is actually NOT 12 years old like she is . . . he actually turned 15 years old yesterday! Good grief! We're ALL moving up there faster than I expected, huh? Well, he certainly doesn't seem to FEEL old, that's for sure! And hey - thankfully, that's finally true for me again now!!
