Good news!

I was beginning to worry since I hadn't heard from Bulldog Rescue after Lisa got turned back home last week when the New-Orleans-to-Baton-Rouge roads were closed. But she said she had left me a message that I didn't get, so everything is still in process.  In fact, she said today that they would bring Bettie up this weekend for her to meet me and the other dogs, then they would take her home and then bring her back again after Mark gets home.  That's great.  I do wish Mark had gotten the fence charger for the front yard installed before he left for work last week so the dogs could meet out there in the front yard without having to stay on leashes.  But oh, well.  It's probably going to be pouring down rain this weekend anyway.  Maybe he'll be able to get it going before they bring her back the second time and  then we can turn them all out in the front if the weather is nice.

I did go yesterday and buy a second one of those giant dog beds.  All things considered, there will be MORE than enough dog beds around the house now, even after Bettie arrives.  Seemed like a good idea to me -- good thing they can all be comfy whenever they like WITHOUT having to run off any of the others!

I'm hoping Carl can get over to the house soon to tidy up the barn.  It's a pretty big mess.  Duke has been hanging out in Arthur's stall and making a horrendous mess of that, that's for sure!  For some reason, he tends to stand facing away from the hay container and the water buckets in there, and as a result he ends up pooping in all of them!  Yuk!!  I thought maybe I could prevent him from going in there by closing the TOP half of the dutch door.  I knew Arthur would be short enough to just amble in there under it, but I thought it would keep Duke out since he's way taller than Arthur.  In fact, he's also taller than the bottom door opening by quite a bit.  So I fixed it that way yesterday morning.  Ha!  By the time I went out to give them their dinner, there was Duke in Arthur's stall.  How the heck he got in there, I have NO idea!  His back is actually higher than that opening.  And he didn't seem to think he could get out again until I opened the top of the door, but he sure as heck got IN there somehow!!!  Gees!  So I spent a good while last night cleaning out the water buckets and the salt container and the hay container, ALL of which were FULL of poop!  I didn't yell at him about that, but I have to say I WAS tempted!  Grrrr!

Well - always something.  But in this case, I am completely out of ideas about how to keep Duke out of Arthur's stall.  Mark?  Any suggestions???
