New dog update --

Got another call from Samuel, Jack's foster dad.  He and the rescue originator (whose name I've forgotten already) will be bringing both Jackie and Bettie up THIS Saturday.

They'll both get to run around and sniff things out and get used to the smell of our dogs.  And they will be leaving THEIR smell for our dogs to get used to as well.  Then they plan to leave Bettie here for the week since she is expected to do well with all our current dogs right away (I certainly hope ours will accept her immediately as well!).

Then they'll bring Jackie back the next Saturday after Mark gets home on Wednesday.  That way once Jack is here the dogs won't need to be left alone at all for almost two weeks.  That should be more than enough time to get him used to living here.

There was a time when I would have thought even that wouldn't be long enough, but I remember what an unexpectedly short time it took to get even Bruce Lee happy to be with me  -- even though he seemed to want to kill me to begin with.

Of course, he never did get to the point where he was happy to be with any other male dogs, but hey . . .  I've had all sorts of dogs over the past 40 years or more and he is the ONLY one who was like that to begin with and never changed, so I doubt seriously that Jack won't eventually become friends with Boo -- and probably before all that long!

Boo IS the one in charge here at the moment.  But we'll see if that remains true after Jack arrives!  But I certainly won't let those two get together until I'm darned sure they're going to be okay together.  They are my only real concern.  I'm hoping it won't be raining and that John will be available to unlock Runnels Preschool.  That would just be a fine place to get those two together ultimately.

Of course, then there IS Joey.  There is no way he would ever hurt anyone.  But he COULD throw a hissy fit and stand there and scream.  And I DO mean "scream," not bark.  That's an incredible sound that is SO annoying!!  He does that over at AVS and everyone is absolutely horrified by it.  Talk about embarrassing!  But Joey is just NOT a normal dog.  I think he's sort of a canine version of a retarded child.  He's extremely good with certain things but behaves extremely strangely with others.  And he simply cannot immediately accept any sort of change.  He freaks out completely if I buy something new or even move any furniture!  So I'm sure he's going to be a pain accepting Bettie and Jack, but he won't hurt anyone, that's certain.  He will just have to be contained until he relaxes and accepts their presence.

Hey - I guess I better go rest up . . . I may need to be up and handling them a LOT for while after Saturday!
