I've been putting off finding a new home page for a year now. But since iGoogle is about to shut down the end of this month I got busy the last couple days and finally found a new home page that I actually like BETTER! Imagine that! It's called igHome (ighome.com). Once you sign in, you can delete anything on there that you don't want and then just click on the "add gadgets" or "add RSS feeds" up there on the top right and put anything at all that you want on there. And I DO mean as many as you want. The page just keeps getting longer and longer as you add more things! Here's what's visible on mine when I open it at the moment:

That NOAA US Local Weather Forecast is terrific because you can ADD weather locations. On mine if I scroll down it also shows weather in Dayton and in Washington DC! |
And here's what I have if I scroll down:
And if I continue to scroll down . . .
I'll probably delete a number of those news "gadgets" eventually, but I'm waiting a week or two to see which are the most interesting to me.
And right now, I just have that light blue background color, but you can also put a picture or a scene back there (click on "choose theme" right under the "Add Gadgets" button). Once a picture is installed, as you scroll you can actually see what's behind all those gadgets. In fact, it's possible to put the gadgets on the two side rows and leave the center clear to see the background picture if you like.
Problem is, I can't figure out how to put my own pictures on there. You can tell them to use any picture ONLINE by giving them the URL, but you can't use one on your own computer. (Apparently they upload it each time instead of storing it.) But that issue is not that big a deal. Everything else is great.
Another thing I love is that if you click on "bookmarks" there on that black line near the top, it automatically picks up your bookmarks from your iGoogle page! (which in my case was about 50 of them!)
Then each time you click on it after that, it opens a new tab showing that listing of bookmarks! I'm telling you, that igHome is a FINE application! Love it!
