Pretty Boy Duke

I have to admit, I haven't been doing any more than necessary with the horses while my back recovered from whatever-the-heck-was-wrong-with-it.  But when I went out to feed them last night, Duke was literally dripping wet with sweat, poor guy.  Lizzie was okay - she's been standing in her stall 6 inches in front of a high-velocity fan aimed in through her interior door.  And Arthur, despite the fact that he CONSTANTLY rolls around in that sand area in Duke's paddock, always looks like he's just been groomed -- absolutely NOTHING sticks to HIS hair.  He always looks immaculate!  But poor Duke . . .

So I got out the hose and pulled it over to the center of his paddock and was about to go get him, but the moment he saw that hose he came running!  Sure didn't need to cross-tie him yesterday for a bath!!!   I spent a good 20 minutes hosing him down and letting him drink out of the hose (he loves that part!).  And he even stood still and let me squeegee off the water and tidy him up.  And he didn't even go roll in the dirt afterward then as he usually does!  I know that for a fact because he was still completely clean when I gave them their breakfast this morning.  (Guess being left dirty for so long did a lot for his bath cooperation!)

Now -- one more day at work and then the weekend!! Yippee!!!!  One thing I'm definitely going to do this weekend is go check out various "misting fans."  It has been SOOOO hot over the last month or more -- and it's only June.  They'll have another 3 months at least to roast out there.  So I'm going to get a misting fan for Lizzie (and maybe even Duke!).  But they tend to vary in price from about $70 all the way up to about $2600! . . . and I can't figure out why.  They all appear to do more or less the same thing.  Now I'm sure there are various ways of spraying that mist, but come on . . . why on earth could there possibly be any reason for a $2500 difference in price?????  So I guess I have no choice . . . I'm forced to actually go look at some -- instead of just ordering one online as I generally do for absolutely everything!    Sigh.
