Spent a lot of time over the weekend trying to organize our kitchen cabinets and drawers. Finally gave up and decided to empty out one of the big metal cabinets in the garage and move all the cleaning "stuff" out of the house and into that cabinet. You wouldn't believe how many things there are all over the place in there! And that's probably because we never know where to look for what we need so we end up buying more of the stuff! That HAS to be why we have 3 or 4 of about everything! So once it's all put just outside the kitchen door in one cabinet, we will no longer have to look under the sinks, in the utility room, in the cabinet where the food is stored, etc. etc. etc. It will all be in one place AND all those spaces in the kitchen/utility room will be cleared out for things that SHOULD be in the kitchen (but are currently ALSO all over the place). So -- another "project" on THE LIST!
Wendy gave me a call for Mother's Day last night, but I have to say she sounded less than cheery. She's still upset about losing Sammy, of course (he was like a child to her), and at the moment her boyfriend - instead of consoling her - is spending all his time out of town visiting with his uncle who is dying of a type of cancer that can no longer be treated. He's said to have only somewhere between 2 weeks and 2 months yet to live, so she probably won't get to spend any time with Jim for a while yet. She's thinking about coming down to visit us - I hope she decides to do that soon. Coming down at the same time as Vickie and John early next month -- and probably Bruce and Bonnie at least part of that time -- would be a good time for her to do that. We would probably be doing more stuff while they're here than we usually do. Vickie is definitely more outgoing that we are, that's for sure!! I'd like to get a chance to meet Jim - they've been dating off and on for a couple of years now, I think, but neither of them has met the other's family before now! (Long story . . .) But on the other hand, I do hope she comes down soon to try and cheer up a bit, and doesn't wait for him to be "available" to come along. Well -- we'll see what happens. I'd love to see her either way!
